Color Draping
For a personal color analysis consultant, drapes are as crucial as scissors are for a hairstylist. How can they achieve a good haircut with subpar tools? It’s simply not possible. Color draping, combined with proper lighting and precise observation, is one of the most effective methods for determining your color palette. But what makes these drapes so special? Bear with me.
In addition to the extensive exposure and training sessions that personal color analysts require, topics I’ve covered in previous posts, they also need reliable materials to work with. I’m skeptical of many different materials on the market that claim to be for color analysis – and this skepticism comes from a consultant who owns four different sets from various brands and has tested them rigorously to ensure I have the best one.
I can attest that the quality of the colors in the drapes needs to be incredibly precise to ensure the best outcome. These colors are what will determine whether a color matches your palette or not. If there’s any imbalance, the result can be not just a challenge but, worse, an inaccurate color analysis.
I’ve been deeply attached to one set for over eight years now. They are hand-dyed, selected for their color characteristics (value, chroma, hue), and due to their quality, they haven’t faded. Most importantly, I trust that my provider is an expert in color theory, not just personal color analysis. The lesson here is to find a personal color analysis consultant whom you trust as much as you trust your hairstylist.
